Orientation

A child's first year at school can set the tone for the rest of their school life. Belrose aims to provide all Kindergarten students with a firm foundation in basic skills and also to ensure a happy, well-adjusted and positive attitude to learning and playing at school.

Orientation morning for Kindergarten takes place early in Term 4 prior to their entry to school. At this time a 4-week transition to school program commences in which children engage in a range of classroom based activities that are designed to help them become familiar with the school's classrooms, playground, teachers and fellow students.

An orientation program for parents is held early in Term 1 as children settle into their first year at school. This comprises information sessions on the teaching of literacy and mathematics, general class routines, health and hygiene issues and school life in general. Parents are also invited to a morning tea with the principal.

Learning and Support Programs

Learning and Support at Belrose Public School provides specialist assistance to students in all our classes with additional learning and support needs. Students who require additional support include those who may have a specific learning difficulty in literacy or numeracy, they may have particular health care needs, a physical disability, vision or hearing loss or specific diagnosis of Autism or ADD.
