Student opportunities and activities

Three dance groups

Belrose has a number of dance groups which aim to develop skills and enjoyment across a varied program.  As well as enhancing students' performance skills, the ideals of commitment and responsibility are also developed through this extra-curricular activity.

Hip Hop and contemporary Dance groups enjoy performing at Glen Street Theatre as well as at many of our assemblies and festivals.

Performance and training bands

The outstanding band program at Belrose Public School begins in Year 3 when all students are invited to join the Training band.  Students then transition to the Performance Band.

The bands participate in festivals, school events and community events throughout the year. A joint parent/staff band committee supports the band program in conjunction with the school bandmaster.

Choir

We have two choirs at Belrose Public School, the Senior Choir and the Junior Choir.  The Senior Choir consists of Years 5 and 6 students, while the Junior Choir consists of students in Years 1 to 4.

Trips and excursions

Our students enjoy getting out of the classroom to explore, learn and try new things. These experiences help them grow, build confidence and see how their learning connects to the world.

PSSA (Public School Sports Association)

Each year, students in Stages 2 and 3 participate in the PSSA inter-school sport competition. Summer sports include cricket, T-ball and softball. Winter sports include soccer and netball.

Students are also offered tennis lessons or home sport options.

Sports Carnivals

Our school holds three sports carnivals each year for students from 8 years old and above. The Swimming Carnival is held in Term 1 at Manly Swim Centre. The Cross Country and Athletics Carnivals are held in Term 2 and 3 respectively.

Students are chosen from these carnivals to represent the school at zone carnivals and from here they may be chosen for regional, state or national competitions.
